Showing Up to Work Excited

If you want to achieve your goals and increase your chances of success, the ability to get and stay motivated consistently is crucial. Here are few ways to help you wake up energized and full of excitement for the coming day.

Never Hit the Snooze Button

Set your clock for when you need to get out of the bed and avoid using the snooze button. Although the snooze button may give you a few extra minutes of rest, this extra sleep is of poor quality, according to research. Your brain realizes it has limited time, so the rest is not refreshing, and you may feel more tired than when you first woke up. You are better off getting up the first time around. To help yourself get up and get moving, place your alarm clock across the room where you still hear it, but must get up to silence it.

Don’t Skip Breakfast

Breakfast, a real breakfast, not just a cup of coffee, is the most important meal of the day. If you want to be productive, do not skip breakfast. You should always eat breakfast, even if you do not feel hungry because it will give you the energy you will need to be at your best. For energy, try to eat a breakfast consisting of foods that are high in protein and fiber. Avoid donuts and pastries and other foods that are full of unsaturated fat. These foods will do nothing but make you feel sleepy!

Get Plenty of Rest

Speaking of becoming sleepy, you must get plenty of sleep each night. On average, try to shoot for 7-9 hours of sleep per night. Skimping on sleep will make you less productive at work, and being tired will rob you of your motivation. Do not fool yourself into thinking you can skip rest during the week and make it up over the weekend because sleep debts do not work in that manner. Avoid being tired and groggy all day; get sleep if you want energy the next morning.

Drink Water

Maintaining a constant supply of water throughout your workday is essential for energizing your body during the day. Water will help you keep your head clear while keeping you motivated throughout the day. Although most sources state that you should consume 2 liters of water per day to stay hydrated, just having a nearby bottle whenever you get thirsty is a good start.

Take Regular Breaks

Take small breaks to avoid tackling too much at once and burning yourself out. Try to take short breaks of 5 or 10 minutes every hour. By taking these brief rest periods, you will give your brain a chance to process all the information you are taking in.
