LinkedIn features an option that allows you to show up on searches by recruiters from outside of your company. You go to the jobs section on the LinkedIn top menu and select career interests. There is an option to let recruiters know that you are open to new jobs. Click it on. You can even compose a note to recruiters in your area of interest so you will attract the right type of opportunities.
Use a Professional Photograph
People do not trust profiles without a picture, so if you do not include a photo with your information, you will not get noticed. Strive to add an image that represents the professional that you are. It is not obligatory to hire a professional photographer but be sure that you look professional. Smile, wear professional attire and make sure there are no distractions in the background.
Make Your Headline Count
The first item a recruiter will see when you come up in search results is your headline. LinkedIn will automatically pull your latest job title, but that is not enough. Your headline must reflect what you do and what you can do. Be sure to include any specific area that you focus on in the heading. Enhance Your Profile
Being available and having a beautiful photograph of yourself does not matter if your profile is lacking. Your profile must be optimized. Incorporate keywords into each section, much like you would do with a resume. Be sure to add keywords to the skills section, job descriptions and summary. The keywords need to line up with your experience and with the skills required for the role you seek. Not sure what keywords to include? Look at job postings that interest you and work the top skills into your profile, if possible.
It will help if you network and network often. Join up with appropriate groups and try to add professional remarks to what others are saying. Try to post news that is relevant to your industry.
